MOSS™ — Managed On-Site Servers
Under MOSS™, VMS Co. delivers servers to a client’s site — but the server remains the property of VMS Co. The customer pays a regular maintenance-style subscription fee from the operational expenditure budget.
VMS Co. owns, maintains, and warranties the server for its lifetime under service, including technical support, hardware maintenance, and (if needed) replacement at end-of-life.
The subscription model is intended to bring the benefits of cloud-style managed services — like low upfront cost, flexibility, upgrades — while avoiding typical cloud drawbacks (e.g. high bandwidth for video streaming, latency, reliance on unreliable broadband/WAN) because the servers are on-site.
MOSS™ also offers mid-term upgrades (e.g. when a site expands), and server replacement if hardware reaches end-of-life — offering scalability and longevity while reducing capital burden.
VMS Co. also provides flexible support options: standard “next-business-day” field engineer support is included, and there are more stringent SLA options (e.g. 4-hour call-out) for mission-critical installations.

Additional services & support
VMS Co. offers full IT maintenance and warranty services for both servers and storage throughout the subscription term. This helps extend hardware lifespan, reduce replacement frequency, and maintain uptime for video systems.
They support logistics, installation, de-installation, and data erasure services — providing a more complete, end-to-end offering for clients who want turnkey solutions.
For older servers (especially OEM servers whose warranty has expired), they offer a “TakeOver” warranty/service option: applying a new maintenance agreement to extend service life and support.
The value proposition of MOSS™
- Affordability & Lower Barrier to Entry: Because of the subscription model, clients avoid large upfront capital expenditure. This makes high-capacity VMS and video analytics more accessible.
- Predictable Ongoing Costs: Treats VMS infrastructure as operational expense rather than capital investment — which can be easier to budget and manage for businesses.
- Reliability & On-Site Performance: On-site servers reduce reliance on cloud bandwidth/network connectivity for video streaming — which improves performance, latency, reliability, and security compared to cloud-only VMS approaches.
- Scalability & Flexibility: As video needs grow (e.g. more cameras, higher resolution, longer retention), the system can be upgraded or expanded relatively easily under subscription.
- Sustainability & Lifecycle Management: Through renewed server options, maintenance, and EOL replacement, VMS Co. supports a more sustainable server lifecycle.
